Unleashing the power of words…

As seen thru my eyes

Hey! Where do I start? Maybe with basics. I’m a collection of many things a mom that half the time does not know what to do or say. A wife that could do better but somehow has managed to not scare him away. A daughter to an intriguing Panamanian woman and a strong black American man. A sister to far too many siblings. A friend as loyal as a dog (don’t believe me, I double dare anyone to say different).

Above all, I’m me. A girl that was raised between two different worlds. Although vastly different, at times brought together by those very same differences. I was brought up in Panama but my culture is a mix of Latin America meets North America. Thanks to those experiences, I would describe myself as an eclectic piece of work. When not glued behind a screen writing, I love listening to music (from smooth R&B to Spanish Reggae all the way to Alternative, plus everything in between), dancing, singing under the rain or shower waterfall for that matter. Dressing up (some call it cosplay) is another favorite, roller skating, playing video games and last but not least reading books.

There’s more I could say about myself but hopefully as you read thru my poems you’ll get to know me better. You’ll understand a bit more of how I view the world and what’s shaped those views. My goal is ultimately to have an outlet to express myself but if within that process I just happen to also strike a cord and my words by chance speak to you or someone else I will consider myself more than accomplished. Truth be told we all wear more than one hat on a daily basis I just happen to like telling stories around each one of those.

Frequently Asked Questions

What inspired you to begin writing?

As a child I read so many books. My favorite books were always by Dr. Seuss and since the age of 7 I knew I wanted to write. Later in life a friend nudged me and since then I have not stopped.

What does your creative process look like?

I don’t think I have one but if I did, I would bet it starts with tapping into a feeling or an emotion evoked by an experience and then laying it all out on a paper.

What is the best way to express feelings?

I find writing to be my best outlet for conveying emotions but I would argue there are many other ways outside of writing. It all depends on what you prefer. If writing I like for the emotions to be raw and unfiltered even if the feelings are strong and possibly controversial.

Who’s your favorite Poet/Poem?

My favorite poem is ‘Men’ by Maya Angelou.
